Gemin X Announces Key U.S. Patent Issued for Obatoclax-Novel Pan Bcl-2 Inhibitor is a Potential Treatment for Broad Range of Cancers-Malvern, PA and Montréal, Canada - September 23, 2008 - Gemin X, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel, targeted cancer therapeutics, today announced that the United States Patent & Trademark Office issued to Gemin X a patent protecting the composition of matter of obatoclax through 2025 - U.S. Patent No. 7,425,553. One of Gemin X's lead pipeline programs, obatoclax is an oncology treatment based on programmed cell death, or apoptosis, and has the potential to be a first-in-class pan Bcl-2 inhibitor. Obatoclax is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of elderly acute myeloid leukemia and the treatment of small cell lung cancer.
